So the ultimate question… who should I see, a Chiropractor, a Physiotherapist or an Osteopath for my back pain
🤔
Bottom line… It shouldn’t matter. Now that sound may controversial, with patients (and therapists) often having their flags planted firmly in a single camp.
☀️
All of the above are trained to rule out anything serious or sinister thats contributing to your back pain, and also refer out to someone else if its needed. They will able be able to explain the likely causes of your back pain and its contributing factors. The provide an evidence based treatment plan to get you back on your feet (quite literally in some cases).
😁
So look for someone who promotes self resilience and active management in your recover, showing you what you can do, rather than telling you a list of what not to do (of course in some cases some aggravating activities may be avoided or adapted).
🙌
Also look for someone who doesn’t only rely on passive interventions, they of course have a role to play but certainly shouldn’t be the only part of treatment. We also know that the vast majority of back pain doesn’t need any further scans or imaging, and that biomechanics factors such as joint position or posture have very little to do with back pain, (again in the majors of cases).
🤠
Reach out to friends, family and colleagues for a recommendation for a therapist, and find someone you can trust and gain a good rapport with.
